THE Government is proposing to reduce tax credits as part of plans to cut £12bn from the welfare bill this summer.
But UK charity Barnardo's claims the move could see 21,000 families in Stoke-on-Trent left struggling to make ends meet.
One option being considered is returning child tax credits to the levels of 2003-04, which would save the Treasury about £5bn. It could also result in families with more than two children losing up to £1,690 a year.
