THIEVES smashed a padlock from a compound to steal a £2,500 mower, which dedicated volunteers needed to prepare a football centre ready for a children's tournament.
Now organisers at Trubshaw Cross Ladsandads are appealing for help in tracking down the equipment – and urging anyone who can loan them a mower to come forward.
They believe the hired Makita Flail Mower was taken at about 11.30am on Friday– at the same time volunteers were trimming pitches.
