MOTORISTS faced tailbacks earlier today after a taxi caught fire on one of Stoke-on-Trent's busiest roads. Police shut the northbound carriageway of the A500 at Basford roundabout near the A53 Etruria Road after the car became engulfed in flames at the end of the slip road at 9.36am.
