TAXPAYERS are forking out more than £400 a week for a single mother and her young child to stay in a hotel – because she is not eligible for benefits.
Shanique Vickerman and her four-year-old son Tafari Bromfield have been staying at the Travelodge in Newcastle for the last 20 weeks, with all her food bills met.
So far, the cost to the public purse is around £8,500.
